GAME CAMP COUNSELOR

Location: Mill Valley, CA — Woander Game Camps (Woander.store/gamecamps

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4:30 on weeks we hold camps

Reports To: Lead Counselor

About the Role

As a Summer Game Camp Counselor, you’ll help make our game-themed day camp engaging, safe, and fun for kids ages 8–14. You’ll guide campers through daily activities centered on tabletop games, role-playing adventures, strategy play, group challenges, and outdoor games in the afternoon. 

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and support a group of up to ~10 campers throughout the camp day. 

  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in gaming sessions (board games, card games, RPG sessions like D&D) with enthusiasm and patience. 

  • Help campers learn game rules, practice good sportsmanship, and resolve conflicts fairly and respectfully. 

  • Assist with check-in/out, transitions between activities, snack breaks, and outdoor games. 

  • Keep campers safe, engaged, and included; watch for hazards and follow safety procedures at all times. 

  • Help create a friendly, encouraging environment where campers feel comfortable trying new games. 

  • Set up and break down play spaces and help maintain a clean environment. 

  • Communicate clearly with co-counselors and Woander staff about camper needs, behavior, or schedule changes. 

Who Should Apply

  • Age 16 or older

  • Enjoy working with kids and playing tabletop games

  • Positive, patient, responsible, and able to lead by example

  • Able to stay attentive and energetic through long activity blocks

  • Strong communicator and team player

  • Able to teach Chess, Euro style board games like Catan and CCGs like Magic: The Gathering

  • Experience acting as a D&D Dungeon preferred

Safety & Training

Camp counselors are responsible for camper safety and must complete any required training before the first day of camp. First Aid / CPR certification is a plus.
