About Wydling Woods
Wylding Woods is an episodic immersive outdoor adventure. Each month, children will be invited to go on a different adventure where they will meet fairy tale characters in the form of puppets as they work collaboratively to complete their mission. These experiences are a prototype for a larger production that will take place in the fall or early next year.
We are seeking talented and creative puppeteers to join our dynamic team at Wylding Woods. The ideal candidates will have a passion for storytelling and the ability to bring characters to life through the art of puppetry. This role requires a blend of performance skills and improvisation to create engaging shows that captivate audiences of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform as a puppeteer in live shows, utilizing various types of puppets, including hand puppets, rod puppets and large scale puppets
Collaborate with directors, writers, and other performers to develop character voices and movements that enhance storytelling.
Attend rehearsals and actively participate in the creative process by contributing ideas for character development and scene execution.
Maintain and care for puppets and related equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition for performances.
Engage with audiences during performances to create an interactive and immersive experience.
Adapt performances based on audience feedback and engagement levels.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in puppetry or a related performance art; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential.
Strong vocal skills with the ability to create distinct character voices.
Excellent physical coordination and dexterity for manipulating puppets effectively.
Creative mindset with the ability to improvise during performances as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends, based on performance schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in theater, performing arts, or related fields
Performance experience as an improviser or immersive theatre performer
Familiarity with different puppetry styles and techniques
Experience in puppet construction and design is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods and manipulating puppets of various sizes and weights.
Comfortable performing in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Access to Mill Valley Music Festival for festival participation
When: Selected dates from March 17th to early June 7th
Location: Various locations in Mill Valley
Contract: Independent Contractor
Rate: $30 / hr for rehearsals and performance
